Man portrayed on the edge of Victoria Falls before falling to his death

A disturbing photograph shows a tourist climbing the edge of Zimbabwe’s Victoria Falls, just minutes before he rushed more than 200 meters to his death, according to local media.

Roy George Tinashe Dikinya, 40, was returning with his family to take photos from the top of the huge waterfall when it fell above the limit, witnesses told Zimbabwe Newsday.

“He alerted us to the woman’s scream and told us she had slipped and fallen,” one said in Dikinya’s diary, who was wearing sandals and holding several things in the left hand of the photo.

“Because of the showers and fog, we were unable to track him down afterwards,” the witness said.

Rescuers from the Zimbabwe National Parks and Wildlife Authority found body parts trapped at the bottom of the gorge, which is at least 350 meters high, according to the Chronicle.

Parts of the body “are trapped between the rocks,” authority spokesman Tinashe Farawo told the newspaper.

“We haven’t been able to identify him positively because of the location where his body is trapped, but we’re sure it’s his body,” he said.

“Right now we are in communication with other security experts, including the military, to try to find ways to recover the body,” he said, with an option trying to use a military helicopter.

According to The Herald, Government Minister Mangaliso Ndlovu sent his “sincere condolences” to the family of the tourist coming from Zimbabwe’s capital, Harare, more than 400 miles from the waterfalls.

“This is a rare, tragic and unfortunate incident that can be witnessed at the mighty Victoria Falls,” Ndlovu said, although he promised “that all necessary precautions will be taken to protect himself from the recurrence of such an unfortunate incident.” “.

It’s just the latest tragedy involving people taking photos from dangerous places. A few weeks ago, a Brazilian man died after falling from a waterfall while taking a selfie.
