James Marsden reveals that he turned down the role of Magic Mike for fear that “he would just be an extra runner on a g-rope”

But one of James Marsden’s blockbusters was the success of the male comedy Magic Mike.
During an appearance on James Corden’s The Late Late Show, Marsden, 47, admitted that he now regrets rejecting the role he was offered in Steven Soderbergh’s film.

Marsden explained that he passed the part for “lack of courage.”
“I was scared that I would get out of the movie and that all my lines would be cut and I would just do an extra run with a rope,” he joked.
He added: “I have friends and family who still think it was a wise idea not to do it because they don’t want to see me like that.”

Released in 2012, Magic Mike starred Channing Tatum, Alex Pettyfer, Matt Bomer, Joe Manganiello and Matthew McConaughey.
The comedy-drama focuses on Tatum’s character, Mike, who earns his living as a stripper at the Xquisite Strip Club in Tampa, Florida, owned by former Dallas stripper, played by McConaughey.
The film consolidated Tatum as the protagonist and also helped consolidate the big screen careers of Joe Manganiello and Matt Bomer.
