The National Housing Institute (INVI) will become the Ministry of Housing and Buildings, while the Ministry of Public Works will be only for infrastructure, as recommended by specialists and international bodies.
The information was offered by President Luis Abinader at a press conference with representatives of his economic team and several ministers.
The Minister of the Presidency, Lisandro Macarrulla, assured that the process of liquidation and restructuring of some state institutions is “going at a good pace”.
He said that next week a second group of about 50 works will move from the OISOE (State Works Supervisory Office), an entity that will disappear, to Public Works.
He added that in the other institutions adjustments are made so that everything is within the framework of the law. He indicated that for the first quarter of this year he is concluding the process of liquidating them.
