The Screen Actors Guild Awards do not receive as much acclaim from the general public as the Academy Awards, but it remains an important night for the film industry, often setting a tonal precedent for the Bones.cars. On March 14 they plan to unfold the proverbial red carpet and offer themselves trophies for some of the most resonant representations of the last terrible year of God. But they will not be the only onesThat night, he launched a proper pandemic coup: with the Recording Academy recentlyscheduling the Grammys for the same night, we now have a classic “popular kids have a party the same night as my party” in our hands, and SAG isn’t too happy with this twist to the plot.

Limit date reports that SAG-AFTRA – which announced the plan to move its event from January to March to July – is deeply disappointed by the recording Academy’s decision to share the date, which they expressed in a statement to Limit date: “We are extremely disappointed to learn of the conflicting date, March 14, announced today for this year’s Grammy Awards broadcast. We announced the same date for the SAG awards last July with the intention of taking into account the largest possible schedule for other awards. We expect the same consideration from sister organizations throughout the industry. ”

If you are thinking that SAG-AFTRA is banking little bit too largely in kindness of true strangers, consider it probably the optimism comes from an almost identical situation last year. The difference is that wwhen the Guild learned that the Grammys had announced their television broadcast the same night — January 26, 2020 — SAG advanced his event a week courtesy. Is this too much to ask for some reciprocal courtesy? Probably not, but this is the same Recording Academy he suggested Justin Bieber deserves positive reinforcement for “Yummy” and paid The Weeknd is nothing more than dust. They know nothing of decency.

The Grammys have not responded to SAG-AFTRA and we don’t imagine they will, choosing to continue with this postponement of Plan C. But if the SAG Awards are looking for ideas here, there are many examples of the Gambit trope of party programming on television and in the cinema. We hope they do so soon find out how to throw a socially distanced rager that will compete.
