The New York Mets have acquired star championship Francisco Lindor and right-handed pitcher Carlos Carrasco in a box office trade with the Cleveland Indians.
In return, Cleveland hosted seasons Amed Rosario and Andres Gimenez and two possible minor league players: right-back Josh Wolf and outfielder Isaiah Greene.
The trade marks the Mets ’first big move since owner Steve Cohen completed the franchise purchase last year.
Indians are also saving a significant 2021 paycheck by parting ways with Lindor ($ 19.5 million) and Carrasco ($ 12 million).
Since making his MLB debut in 2015, Lindor ranks first among all WAR short stops (28.4), home runs (138) and extra base hits, according to ESPN Stats & Information.
He also finished second in RBI (411) and runs (508), and fifth in OPS (.835) and slugging (.485), while beating .285. At 27, Lindor has earned four All-Star gestures, two Golden Gloves and two Silver Sluggers for appearing in the 2016 World Series and finishing second in the AL Rookie of the Year poll. in 2015.
Carrasco, 33, was diagnosed with leukemia in 2019 and returned the same season, becoming the AL Comeback player of the year. He was seventh in the AL with an effectiveness of 2.91 out of 12 starts last season and was sixth with 82 points in 68.0 innings
Carrasco is 88-73 with an effectiveness of 3.77 and 1,305 attacks in 242 games during his 11-year career in Cleveland.
Rosario, 25, hit .268 with 32 homers and 148 RBI in 403 games with the 2017 Mets in the ’20s.
Gimenez, 22, hit .263 with three homers and 12 runs in 49 games last year.
