SAINT ANTHONY – San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg and Bexar County Commissioner Justin Rodriguez briefed the community on the local response to COVID-19 in its daily Thursday night session.
Nirenberg reported 128,067 COVID-19 cases in total and 1,587 deaths in total in Bexar County, an increase of 1,170 new cases as of Thursday. Nine people have been reported dead today.
The 7-day moving average of cases is 1,534.
City officials also reported that 1,376 patients are hospitalized, 394 in the intensive care unit and 214 in ventilators. There are 10% beds available and 48% fans.
There were 207 hospital admissions, a record in a 24-hour period, Nirenberg said.
The city’s assistant manager, Dr. Colleen Bridger, said Metro Health will launch a website to help people find places to get vaccinated. He said the website will be launched when there is enough offer available to the public.
