Giselle López Soler is sworn in as the new magistrate of the Federal Court in Puerto Rico

Giselle López Soler was sworn in today, Friday, as the new magistrate of the Federal District Court in Puerto Rico.

Judge Aida Delgado took the oath at a private ceremony, in which López Soler was accompanied by her husband, Xavier Diví, and the other federal court judges.

“I am very proud to have five excellent magistrates again”, Expressed the judge president of this judicial forum, Gustavo Gelpí.

He added that he has known “Judge López Soler since he began his legal career as a legal officer for Judge Salvador Casellas. He has always been distinguished by his intellect, temperament and humility. I have no doubt that his vast experience in the field of civil and commercial litigation will be of great value to the court, the lawyers who apply here, and his clients.”.

“I am grateful to Judges Aida Delgado Colom and Silvia Carreno Coll, who in recent months have served as extraordinary mentors to Judge López Soler, preparing her to pass the functions in criminal cases. In 1997, López Soler earned a bachelor of arts degree with a concentration in psychology from Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts, followed by a master’s degree from New York University.

Then in 2000 he graduated magna cum laude from the University of California, Los Angeles School of Law, University of Puerto Rico. From 2004 to 2006 he began his legal career as a legal assistant to Judge Casellas and then to the law firm Méndez & Álvarez, LLC.

Before being sworn in as a federal magistrate, López Soler worked in his own legal office, where he dealt primarily with civil cases, commercial litigation, and intellectual property and bankruptcy matters.
