The pre-candidate for mayor of San Pedro Sula by the Yanista Movement of the Liberal Party, Roberto Contreras, resigned from the position for which he aspired.
The businessman will not run in the next primary election for personal reasons, according to a statement from the Yanista Movement’s National Campaign Commission.
“Our friend Roberto Contreras, the mayoral candidate for San Pedro Sula, has decided not to take part in the next electoral process for personal reasons. We are grateful for his friendship and his intentions to change the course of Honduras,” they announced.
“We are grateful that the paintings of Roberto Contreras continue to support our pre-candidate for the presidency of Honduras, Yani Rosenthal to achieve the change that Honduras needs, ”the statement said.
Contreras had also resigned from his pre-presidential candidacy when he was running for the “Get on the Victory Train” movement in the Liberal Party.
The National Electoral Council (CNE) of Honduras held on September 14 the call a primary elections which will have to take place on March 14, 2021.
