UK COVID ads are urging people to stay home

A new coronavirus ad campaign in the UK is urging Britons to “act like they have it” and stay home, as cases and deaths in the country increase.

On Friday, 68,053 infections and 1,325 deaths were recorded, with more than double the daily death toll in a week, surpassing the previous high of 1,224 deaths on April 21, according to a report in The Sun.

“COVID-19, especially the new variant is spreading rapidly across the country,” the country’s chief medical officer, Chris Whitty, told the TV spot. “Once again, we all have to stay home.”

The terrible warnings come as a new highly contagious variant of the coronavirus was discovered in the country in the country last month.

Posters of the government’s tough campaign to curb infection rates show a nurse treating a coronavirus patient along with a warning: “Act like you have it.”
