The New York City fire department has provided information to the FBI about several members who were allegedly at the U.S. Capitol when riots charged against the building.
An FDNY spokesman confirmed that some of its members identify themselves as Wednesday riots that killed four people and a U.S. Capitol police officer.
“The Department received anonymous allegations that active or retired members were present at the U.S. Capitol events on January 6 and, as required, has provided this information to the FBI,” said Frank Dwyer, spokesman for the FDNY.
An image circulating on Twitter after Wednesday’s riot captured a person standing outside the building dressed in clothing with “FDNY Squad 252” printed on the back. Dwyer told the NY Post that the man from photo “was not an active member of the department. “
So far at least 16 people have been arrested and charged with federal crimes for their involvement in violence that took place in the U.S. Capitol building, NBC News reports.
On Saturday the heavily photographed man with a horned helmet and spear was arrested; how the man carrying a lectern was seen.
