Random: Red Pokémon is played inside someone’s avatar on Twitter

Twitch Plays Pokémon is so 2014 … nowadays, it’s about playing Red Pokémon inside someone’s avatar on Twitter.

Yes, we’re not kidding: Gameloft Montreal programmer Constantin Liétard (@screenshakes) somehow managed to put together a script that then updated his Twitter avatar every 15 seconds and which is reproduced in the 1996 Game Boy classic.

At the time of writing, there are almost over eight thousand responses. Not much has been played yet, as the creator has reset the game several times to improve command entries and add new functionality that saves frames. The story so far is the selection of the initial pocket monster, Squirtle.

While completing a game this way may seem like an almost impossible task, Twitch started with Pokémon Red and completed seven seasons of Pokémon games.

We thought that in 2021 it could go a little wild, but we would say that this crazy idea has already exceeded our expectations. You will be participating in this new social media experiment. Tell us below.
