Florida doctors say a new stem cell treatment has been very effective in treating coronavirus.
Friday’s reports detailed the treatment, which uses stem cells collected from the umbilical cord of a newborn baby. Patients treated with the cells would have seen a 91% survival rate with faster recovery times.
According to experts, cells share properties with treatments used to fight autoimmune diseases.

Doctors have called the treatment a “potential turning point.”
“These IV-injected cells naturally go with a very simple procedure that does not require any invasive procedure,” said Dr. Camillo Ricordi of Miller University School of Medicine. “You can only direct the transfusion to the lung. The cells go to the lungs and it has been an amazing result and we are very excited to take it to the next step. “
