Representative Nunes calls for racketeering research on big tech companies after Parler Ban

A House Republican on Sunday called for an investigation into the big tech companies that took action over the weekend against Parler, a social media website.

“It is clear that this is a violation of antitrust, civil rights and the RICO statute. There should be a mock-up investigation of all the people who coordinated this attack not only against a company, but against all those like us, like me, like you, Maria ”, the representative Devin Nunes (R-California), member of the ranking on the House Intelligence Committee, she told Maria Bartiromo, presenter of Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures.”

After Twitter banned President Donald Trump and some other users, Parler saw his traffic explode. Soon, however, Google announced that it had removed Parler from its online store, an action followed by Apple. Amazon then announced that it was suspending Parler from its web hosting services.

Parler CEO John Matze told The Epoch Times that his company is ready to take legal action, but in the meantime authorities should investigate possibly coordinated actions, Nunes argued.

“The effect of this is that there are no longer any free and open social media companies or sites so that no American can access more,” he said, because Amazon, Google and Apple “just destroyed” Parler.

“It simply came to our notice then. So I don’t know where the hell the Justice Department or the FBI are right now, ”he added.

Nunes also said the CEOs of the companies should be prosecuted. He also said he has been talking to other members of Congress and that they are exploring their legal options. And he also asked the Supreme Court and federal judges to intervene.

The Justice Department, Apple, Google and Amazon did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
