AGDQ 2021 raises $ 2.7 million for charity

Awesome games made quickly 2021 is over after a full week of speedrunning. The event generated an impressive $ 2,764,437 for the Cancer Prevention Foundation. This is the second highest amount in AGDQ, only surpassed by last year’s total of more than $ 3 million.

AGDQ 2021 was held online this time due to the ongoing covid-19 pandemic. Participants broadcast games from home while viewers watched online. This year’s event has had some highlights. Earlier in the week, two different Sonic world records were set by two different speed racers, back to back.

Another runner won all Celeste face levels c using a Dance Dance Revolution dance pad. I still can’t get my head around it. The race also started with a cheat code that unlocks all levels of the game.

Another great race happened in a game called Mr. Bones, one of the people who has probably not touched or heard. The race took place during AGDQ’s annual “Awful Games Done Quick” block. This is a part of the event where, as its name suggests, people play horrible games very quickly. The race was so much fun to watch that it helped our own Ash Parrish cope a little better with last week’s terrible events.

I’ve always been a big fan of Hello speedruns, and this year we did very well Halo 3 speedrun on the newly released PC game port. Growing up, Halo 3 it was a game that took me over a week to win; seeing someone knock down the game in less than an hour and fifteen minutes, with various gravity hammer and grenade tricks, was a blast. Young teenager Zack wouldn’t believe it.

If you want to feel tired and sore, check out this speedrun of Beat Saber about expert +. The Kungfufruitcup runner does a great job explaining the game and then making it seem easy to overcome on the hardest difficulty. The best part of this speedrun may be at the beginning when, halfway through the race song and in the middle of playing dozens of notes in a matter of seconds, he says, “Let’s start a little easy.”

AGDQ 2021 has uploaded all the speedruns to its YouTube channel, so you can easily watch any of these races or countless others whenever you want. You can also donate to the event.

GDQ is already provoking this year next Summer Games event done fast and will have more information to share at a later date.
