House Speaker Rafael “Tatito” Hernandez sees the possibility of approving a bill to regulate abortion in Puerto Rico as difficult and says the discussion “has already been overcome.”
“I find it very difficult. This issue had been overcome and the privacy of women must be respected. If the project comes, it will be given a course, but I find it difficult to approve it,” said the newly released chamber president in interview with radio station WIAC.
Hernández’s remarks came after the spokeswoman for the Dignity Project, Joanne Rodríguez Veve, voted in favor of the presidency of the popular José Luis Dalmau in the Senate and indicated that he had promised to consider a project to regulate abortion. .
In a post on his Facebook page, Rodriguez Veve listed the reasons why he voted in favor of the senator of the Democratic People’s Party (PPD), among which was: “Give way to measures to regulate abortion and protect the lives of both unborn children and pregnant mothers. “
