State and federal authorities are working together to clarify the case in which three police officers were shot dead yesterday on Green Island.
The incident, the scene spanning from Carolina’s jurisdiction to St. John’s, left a fourth bullet-wounded policeman whose condition at the time is unknown.
On the other hand, the police have not revealed details of the suspect (s) of the crime, but assured that they have received information with which they could soon start an identification process using a confrontation wheel.
Here’s what we know so far:
1. Start with a shock
A crash on Roberto Clemente Avenue, near the Carolina Shopping Center in Carolina, was the trigger for the suspect in the murder of officers to try to steal a Carolina Municipal Police motorbike and then fail. he stole the car from a woman, by carjacking, at 65th Infantry Avenue in front of Clinical Medical Services (CMS) which led to a chase to arrest him.
2. Shooting at the Baldorioty
Carolina Municipal Police joined the state to find the whereabouts of the man who was driving a white 2003 Hyundai Accent. Two helicopters of the United Forces of Rapid Action (FURA) were activated to provide assistance in the search for the alleged suspect in the crime at the residential Luis Llorens Torres.
The operation has been going on since last night and will continue, according to the police commissioner, until they find the whereabouts of the subject.
As part of the search, authorities raided an apartment that was occupied by several weapons, ammunition and another series of drug items. However, it was not reported whether this property is related or belongs to the suspect.
8. Pierluisi declares three days of mourning
Governor Pedro Pierluisi Urrutia has declared three days of national mourning this morning as part of the assassination of the three police officers while they were performing their duty yesterday in Carolina.

Authorities found at 1:59 a.m. on San Jose Street, intersection with Muñoz Rivera Avenue, in Santurce the lifeless body of a man accompanied by a sign saying he was the alleged killer of the cash.
Police linked the scene to the incident, as the body, which they found among garbage bags, had “similar characteristics” to the alleged killer of the officers.
The individual wore gray shorts and a black shirt, had a tattoo on his right arm that read “Sofia” and another on his right leg with the design of a caravel.

The murder of these three policemen is joined by another seven that occurred last night in various parts of the island.
