New York Mayor Bill de Blasio has announced that the City Council will break “all contracts” it currently has with the Trump Organization for the president’s “criminal activities,” in reference to the assault on the January 6 against the seat of the US Congress.
City Council legal teams have examined the possibility of terminating these contracts and have concluded that authorities can do so if a company or its principal is involved in “criminal activities,” which De Blasio believes is happening in this case.
The Democratic mayor has accused in an interview with MSNBC Trump of “instigating an insurrection” against the institutions, alluding to the harangues to his supporters to demonstrate coinciding with the certification in Congress of the results of the last election.
“New York City is not doing business with insurgents,” De Blasio said on his Twitter account, explaining that the decision will result in the termination of several concessions, including the Central Park Easels, two runways. skating and a golf course.
The New York is home to the Trump Organization, a business conglomerate that specializes primarily in real estate management and development. The president was forced to cede control of the signature to his children in 2017, when he took over the presidency of the United States, but he has never completely disassociated himself.
