Police confirm that the killer of the three officers was the man executed in Santurce

Puerto Rico Police Commissioner-designate Antonio Lopez Figueroa confirmed this afternoon that the man found dead in Santurce on Tuesday morning, identified as David Emanuel Rivera Batiz, is the assassin of the agent of the state police, Luis Marrero Diaz, as well as the agents of the municipal police Luis Salaman Conde and Eliezer Hernandez Cartagena.

Rivera Batiz, 25, a Ponce resident, was killed and his body was found along with a sign that read, “I am responsible for the murder of the guards. Here it is.”

The colonel confirmed that Rivera Batiz belonged to the criminal organization known as “the FARC” and was one of those involved in the assassination of Isadora Neus, known as Pinky with many curves. He indicated that the individual had a criminal record for stolen vehicles, Weapons Act and was suspected of several murders in the Ponce area.

Regarding the possibility of Rivera Batiz having collaboration in the case of the agents, López Figueroa said that this angle “is under investigation and we cannot give data related to this.”

The appointed commissioner noted that the investigation remains open and requested the cooperation of the public to find the whereabouts of Carles Cotto, known as “Wassa” who is suspected of several murders and other criminal cases. The name “Wassa” was initially listed as one of the suspects in the case of the agents.

He also indicated that they are continuing with the investigation to find the person responsible for the death of Rivera Batiz. “Every death is important, this young man is someone’s son,” he said.
