SEPTA traffic police chief Thomas J. Nestel III confirmed that the investigation consisted of determining whether officers participated in criminal behavior or violated departmental policies and not whether they attended the protest.
“It’s the first modification they have. They can do it if they want to, but what worries us is whether they were involved in criminal activity,” Nestel said.
The Home Office of the Philadelphia Police Department is investigating whether a detective played any role in the riot.
