Harrison challenged Graham during the 2020 general election, drawing national attention and raising $ 109 million in his candidacy. However, the incumbent Republican defeated the Democratic challenger by about 10 points on November election night.
But Harrison is still considered a formidable fundraiser and is connected within Democratic Party circles. He previously served as president of the Democratic Party of South Carolina from 2013 to 2017.
If elected by Biden, Harrison will face the task of defending narrow majors in the House and Senate in 2022 under Biden’s administration. Thirty-four seats in the Senate and 435 seats in the House will be available for re-election.
Harrison said last November that he would consider running the DNC if he was offered the job.
