A forensic doctor has determined the cause of death of Emily Mitchell, a lifestyle influencer who tragically died, along with her unborn child, just days before Christmas.
Mitchell, who was expecting his fifth child, was having breakfast on the morning of Dec. 22 when he suddenly stopped responding. Efforts to save the 36-year-old woman and her fetus were unsuccessful.
The Rhode Island-based blogger, who ran the Instagram Way Hidden Way account, died of a pulmonary embolism, according to a GoFundMe page for the family, which announced the forensic doctor’s findings.
A pulmonary embolism involves a clot in the arteries of a person’s lungs. The condition is common, but can be fatal. Pregnant women tend to have a higher risk.
A friend announced the update on behalf of Mitchell’s husband, Joseph.
“A few days ago we learned from the state medical consultation that the official cause of death was a pulmonary embolism. While it’s a challenge to wrap our heads around how this could have happened, we know that all first aid and medical staff did everything they could to help them, and so we’re sure it was simply the his moment; the Lord called her home. ”
Mitchell shared the news of her most recent pregnancy with her 174,000 followers on November 19th. It is unclear when she beat the baby, whom the couple had named Joey. On December 8 he wrote to his followers that he would undergo a fifth cesarean section.
Her social media account shared the ups and downs of parenting and schooling at the home of her four children, Finn, Isla, Edie and Luna, in addition to faith.
“Emily, beautiful inside and out, had an infectious smile and a kind, compassionate spirit,” her online obituary said. “Her exuberant personality radiated outwardly in her interactions and relationships with everyone who knew her. Emily was a symbol of strength during the most difficult times for many.
