Military police die while serving their turn at Támara Penitentiary

TEGUCIGALPA, Honduras.- A military policeman was killed on the night of Friday 15 January, when he was allegedly attacked by an inmate at the Támara penitentiary in the Amarateca valley, a few kilometers from the capital of Honduras.

The dead man was identified as Pedro López Vásquez (26), who was originally from the municipality of Santa Elena, La Pau and was assigned to the Fifth Battalion of the Military Police of Public Order (PMOP).

According to some versions after death, “El Montañez” as his co-workers told him, he entered one of the cells in order to pretend to bring food to an inmate, but he was beaten in the head, using a heavy padlock and later wounded. with a sharp object.

Other reports issued earlier indicated that the tragic death occurred during a riot in the penitentiary, so that while officers were trying to contain the detainees, López Vásquez received an unexpected shot.
