Liz Cheney’s Enemies Eliminate Republican Leadership Conspiracy After Dismissal Vote

The knives are by Liz Cheney.

The Wyoming congresswoman and No. 3 leader of the House Republican caucus is facing an uprising by conservative lawmakers unhappy with her vote yes to accuse President Trump.

Cheney was one of only 10 Republicans in the House to side with Democrats Wednesday.

Some Republicans are looking to stage an internal coup with a gamebook used during an assassination attempt on then-President Newt Gingrich in 1997.

“We’ve thoroughly researched the rules and there’s been a lot of discussion about how to handle it,” Montana representative Matt Rosendale told Newsmax. Cheney “is out of step with the conference in such a monumental way.”

Rosendale was the first House Republican to call for the removal of Cheney as Speaker of the House Republican Conference after his renegade vote.

Under current GOP caucus rules, any member can activate a request for a panel to consider whether a member is eligible to remain in office. As chairman of the conference, however, Cheney would have the right to select panel members and store it with his allies.

Republican Party insurgents say they would counter this action by invoking Rule 6 (d), which would allow the full Republican conference to weigh in a vote up or down if they got 50 signatures.
