U.S. Republican Representative spokeswoman Lauren Boebert left office less than two weeks after she was sworn into office, saying the insurgency caused her in the Capitol capital.
DENVER – U.S. Republican Representative spokeswoman Lauren Boebert has resigned less than two weeks after she was sworn in, saying the insurgency drove her to the insurgency at the nation’s Capitol.
Ben Goldey confirmed his departure to The Colorado Sun after Axios first reported it on Saturday. The Sun reported that Goldey did not answer additional questions, but told Axios he would leave after a deadly January 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol.
Boebert, a first-term Colorado Republican with ties to QAnon’s baseless conspiracy theory, has tried to overthrow President-elect Joe Biden’s victory and has gained attention for promising to bring a gun to the Capitol.
“After the events of January 6, I decided to separate from the office,” Goldey told Axios. “I wish her and the people of Colorado’s Third District the best.”
Boebert’s office declined to comment. “The office makes no comment on internal staffing issues with individual employees,” Jeff Small, Boebert’s chief of staff, told The Colorado Sun on Saturday.
Goldey’s replacement has already been hired. Boebert’s staff is largely made up of former members of President Donald Trump and former Republican Sen. Cory Gardner.
