A CNN poll puts Donald Trump’s approval rating at a new low as the end of his presidency approaches, lowering the number of Republicans and Democrats.

In the poll, released Sunday, 34 percent of respondents said they approved of Trump’s presidency. The previous low was 35% and before the November election, Trump’s approval rating was 42%.

Despite Trump’s involvement in the violence at the U.S. Capitol earlier this month, 80% of Republicans said they approved of his presidency. However, it fell from 94% in October. Two percent of Democrats approved of Trump in the latest poll.

The majority of respondents (54%) said Trump should be fired after the events at the Capitol. Ninety percent of Democrats agreed that Trump should be forced to step down and 10 percent of Republicans.

Joe Biden will sign a series of executive orders in his first days in office, trying to recover the damage done at home and abroad by Donald Trump, whom the Democrat will replace on Wednesday as president.

Biden, 78, has already outlined plans to send an immigration bill and a Covid stimulus and aid package to a newly Democratic-controlled Congress. Friday said it would shake up the delivery of vaccines against Covid-19, mired in chaos under Trump.

According to a statement from Chief of Staff Ron Klain on Saturday, Biden plans to return the United States to the Paris climate deal and Iran’s nuclear deal, overturn Trump’s travel ban against some Muslim-majority countries, restrict evictions and foreclosures under the pandemic and instituting a masked warrant on federal property.

President Biden will enjoy Democratic control of both houses of Congress, both by a narrow margin in the House and by the decisive vote of Kamala Harris as vice president in a 50-50-year-old Senate. But Senate business, including confirmation of candidates in Biden’s cabinet, will soon be dominated by Trump’s impeachment process.

On Sunday, Klain told CNN Union State: “It is important that the Senate fulfill its constitutional duty, but also do its constitutional duty to move forward on these appointments, on the urgent action the country needs.

“During the last time President Trump was tried, the Senate was able to hold confirmation hearings for the nominees during the morning. [and] was able to conduct other business. I hope that the leaders of the Senate, bipartisan, will find a way forward in all their responsibilities. This dismissal trial is one of them, but getting people into government and taking action against the coronavirus is another of those responsibilities. ”
