It can become a fad. Striker James Maddison made one of those celebrations that can go down in football history and more in the context of the world currently living under the covid-19 coronavirus pandemic that has forced clubs around the world to play behind closed doors and with strict measures for off-field players.
That’s why the curious celebration of Maddison after scoring a goal against Southampton in the Premier League is striking. The footballer ran to one side of the goal and when his companions were about to embrace him, he stopped them and greeted them with “healthy distance,” that is, he moved his hand in the air, thus performing the new anti-covid courtship in football.

We’ll see how many players imitate him, as the celebrations of the goals so far remain with hugs and handshakes although health authorities around the world do not recommend it because of the high risk of infection.
Maddison’s goal was the first in the Foxes’ 2-0 victory in the Premier League, result that puts them second in the ranking. The other goal was scored by Harvey Barnes in stoppage time.
