Arlington police are looking for a man who is said to have shot dead an employee of the convenience store in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Around five in the morning, a customer entered the EZ Mart at block 100 of East Bardin Road and found the secretary not answering on the floor behind the counter, police said.
The man, whose identity has not been disclosed, was pronounced dead at the store.
Police said surveillance footage from the store showed a man entering the store around 3:30 a.m., shooting the victim several times and carrying various items from the store.
The man fled on foot east to Bardin, police said.
Police described the suspect as a slender black man with long hair wearing a red baseball cap and a dark jacket and shirt.
No calls had been made or alarms sounded from the store before the customer who found the man entered, police said.
Shortly before the shooting, another person had been in the store. Police are expected to speak with this client to determine if he saw anything.
