Lionel Messi he received his first red card Barcelona Sunday night, as he received his marching orders with the Blaugrana losing 3-2 against Athletic Club in the 119th minute of the Spanish Super Cup final.
Asier Villalibre he had been trying to put himself under the Argentine’s skin and, after a meeting between the two as Messi played a pass to the left, raised his arms to try to get the Athletic front off him.
Referee Jesús Gil Manzano went to the VAR monitor, saw the play and made the decision that Messi a red card should be received for an overly aggressive act.
Still, a video has circulated on social media showing a different angle and making the incident not look as aggressive as from behind.
