And so, someone has created a mod for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim – Special Edition that makes the game run at 60 frames per second on PS5 (and PS4, a bit). The author of the modification, MrWright, has posted a brief summary of how it works on YouTube and it is safe to say that Skyrim has never worked better on PlayStation consoles.
By the way, you read the headline correctly. As the description of the modification explains, you can in fact have Skyrim at 60 fps without sacrificing the functionality of the Trophy. Below is a quick step-by-step breakdown of how it works.
- Download and activate the 60 fps mod
- Start a reservation (or start a new one)
- Return to main menu (without closing the game completely)
- Disable the 60 fps mod in the edit menu
- Now Skyrim should run at 60 fps, even without the change enabled, allowing Trophies (as long as you don’t use any other changes)
- Repeat steps 1 through 5 each time you open Skyrim
Again, if you have other changes enabled, trophies will not be available.
And yes, this mod also works technically on PS4 and PS4 Pro, but the results are not as remarkable compared to when the game runs on PS5 thanks to later compatibility.
So there you have it: Skyrim runs at (around) 60 fps on PS5. Are you tempted to return to the Dragonborn world with this mod? Call the comments section below.
