Lester, 37, has featured 15 major league seasons as one of the majors headliners in the Majors. The Washington native is a three-time world series champion, winning titles with the Red Sox (twice, in 2007 and 13) and the Cubs (’16), while capturing the NLCS MVP of the 16th. and won five All-Star Game Selections. He has pitched his last six seasons with Chicago, ending his memorable Cubs tenure with a 77-44 record, 3.64 ERA and three crucial wins during the North Siders ’curse race to the 16th World Series title.
The 2020 season saw Lester record a worst ERA of 5.16 in the run in 12 starts, including a 6.2-hit worst and 1.6 homers allowed for nine innings. But Lester also contains a sterling post-season resume, with a 2.51 ERA run in October. He has also been durable and has made at least 30 outings in each full season since 2008.
Lester will join a veteran rotation in Washington led by the trio of Max Scherzer, Stephen Strasburg and Patrick Corbin who helped the nationals capture their first World Series championship in 2019.
