Carson WentzThe state has fluctuated considerably over the past month and has changed, with the veteran quarterback moving from headline to backup and then changing candidate to a player around whom the Eagles are rebuilding. The problems of the fifth-year passenger with the fired Doug Pederson it began long before the December bench, with Philadelphia researcher Jeff McLane noting that the quarterback would be heard randomly outside of Pederson’s calls during the season. This helped get Pederson to go to Wentz on his own. During training camp, however, Eagles members saw warning signs of a potential decline, according to McLane, who adds that some members of the organization were concerned about the passing game coordinator. Press Taylorpromotion. The proposal for a Pederson-Wentz-Taylor offensive power structure to return next season did not go well with Lurie. The Eagles promoted Taylor last year, but they came in Rich Scangarello i Marty Mornhinweg help the offense as well; the last two will not return next season.
The Eagles are in the process of hiring Pederson’s replacement. Colts OC Nick Sirianni and Cowboys OC Kellen Moore interviewed Tuesday. Here’s what’s new in Philly and other NFC East cities:
- Alex Smith he said at the end of the season that it would take a few weeks to decide if he wanted to play a 17th season. It is hired until 2022. But the Washington quarterback indicated during a 60 minutes interview (via CBSNews.com) that the 2020 return season “it just encouraged me that I can, you know, play at that level“. After cutting Dwayne Haskins, Washington has Smith i Kyle Allen under contract for next season. Even though, Taylor Heinicke is a restricted free agent. Washington, which cut Smith, a onerous proposal in 2019 and 20, would save the franchise $ 14.7 million in maximum space, while creating a complex situation for the team that needs QB.
- Jeans wide receiver Amari Cooper he recently underwent ankle surgery, but Clarence Hill of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram described it as a cleansing procedure (Twitter link). The Cowboys aren’t worried that their outdated times will waste a lot of off-season time.
- In this note, Giants left attack Andrew Thomas it also happened under the knife recently. Last year’s No. 4 overall pick was also operated on the ankle. Thomas played with ankle pain for much of the season, by Dan Duggan of The Athletic, who adds (via Twitter) the Giants expect Thomas to be ready for their low-season show.
- He Eagles will have a new striker coach next season. Ken Flajole will not return, according to Alex Marvez of Sirius XM Radio (on Twitter). The 66-year-old assistant joined the Eagles as a member of Pederson’s first team in 2016. After spending most of the 1980s and 1990s as a college coach, Flajole has been an NFL assistant for 22 seasons.
