Treasury makes the first $ 600 deposits of the second federal stimulus for COVID-19

The Treasury Department began today, Tuesday, the deposit of the $ 600 corresponding to the second package of economic stimulus approved by the United States Congress to compensate for the crisis caused by COVID-19.

The Secretary of the Treasury, Francisco Parés Alicea, has reported on his Twitter account that there are about 200,000 taxpayers who must see the money reflected in their accounts after receiving it through direct deposit.

“The filing fee was $ 190 million among 200,000 applications. However, in advance about 700,000 people have to see their money deposited on Saturday, maybe about $ 600 million.”, Has indicated the official.

“When I say we’re ready, I do it because it took many hours of preparation, testing and self-criticism. We recognize that we don’t all know it, but we never lack the passion for what we do,” the secretary added.

Distribution of this new stimulus package in Puerto Rico is expected to be faster than the first check amounting to $ 1,200. At the time, the Treasury took just over a month to complete the million-dollar disbursement.
