Three former presidents will attend Biden’s inauguration

Former Presidents Bill Clinton, George W. Bush and Barack Obama are expected to attend inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden on Wednesday, though his immediate predecessor is expected to leave the White House before the day’s ceremonies. Along with President Trump, former President Jimmy Carter, who at 96 is the oldest living president, will not attend the inauguration.

Despite Trump’s absence, Vice President Mike Pence is expected to attend the inauguration ceremony. Pence will not appear at Trump’s farewell ceremony at Andrews base in front of the president march to Florida Wednesday morning, a senior administration official told CBS News.

Biden will be sworn in by Chief Justice John Roberts and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris will be sworn in by Judge Sonia Sotomayor. Several members of Congress are expected to attend the event, although they have only been allowed one guest entry. In previous years, each member of Congress has been granted 200,000 tickets to distribute to members. But due to the coronavirus pandemic, attendance at Biden’s takeover is expected to be very limited.

It is also expected to be available several famous guests inauguration attendees, including Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lopez, Bruce Springsteen and Garth Brooks.

While attendance will be low, there will be strong security at the inauguration, which will take place just two weeks after an unprecedented assault on the Capitol. The Pentagon has authorized more than 25,000 National Guard personnel to secure the event and the FBI is examining all members of the Guard.
