They confiscated over 282 kilos of cocaine valued at $ 7,200,000 in Aguadilla

Agents of the Intelligence Division of the United Nations Rapid Action Forces (FURA) in conjunction with members of the U.S. Border Security Forces confiscated 282.34 kilos of cocaine on Tuesday Aguadilla.

In a police report, the Police Negotiator reported that the cargo is equivalent to 7,202,540 in the market.

It was stated that during the intervention, five people of “non-existent migratory status” and one nationalized were arrested. They also confiscated three busy motor vehicles.

The Federal Caribbean Corridor Strike Force Agency assumed jurisdiction over the case.

Ten days ago, Air and Marine Operations (AMO) Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents intercepted 204 pounds of cocaine thrown from a three-occupant boat near Culebra, Puerto Rico’s island-municipality, in east, and in another operation, local police confiscated 217 pounds, in Manatí, in the north.

The value of the drug confiscated in Manatí was $ 6,727,000 and the estimated value of the one intercepted in the east was $ 5.5 million.

Local and federal authorities seized 32,709 pounds of illicit drugs valued at $ 48.8 million in the Caribbean in fiscal year 2020.

This amount of money highlights an increase of nearly ten million dollars compared to fiscal year 2019, according to CBP figures on border control efforts in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands over the past four fiscal years (2017-2020).
