President Andrés Manuel López Obrador assured that the UN proposal for pharmaceuticals, such as Pfizer, reduce the shipment of Covid vaccines to support poor countries, arose from the initiative presented by Mexico in the international body and which was approved almost unanimously to establish a fair and equitable management of vaccines.
“The UN is asking pharmaceutical companies to allocate vaccine production to a system that was created at the UN to ensure that the vaccine reaches all countries, that there is no hoarding, and this initiative was presented by Mexico , this resolution, and was passed almost unanimously.
“Then we’re going to be insisting that it be fair, fair, the handling and application of vaccines,” he said.
At a press conference, the head of the Federal Executive stated that in his government “we understand the circumstances” for which the pharmaceutical company Pfizer had to modify its schedule of delivery of doses of the pandemic vaccine and reiterated that the doses will be replenished later.
“We understand the circumstances under which they modify their schedule, although we are later reassured of what they will stop delivering—” he said at Palau Nacional.
