Tom Holland’s all-around attraction is pretty undeniable; it’s a big part of what made the British actor once again convince Marvel’s most unfortunate hero, Peter Parker. Now we can add another data point to Dutch “It’s just like normal people!” credentials: the revelation that he learned that he had been chosen as Spider-Man in the same way that the rest of us did: by reading a blog post on Marvel.com

This comes from a recent interview Holland did it with his former MCU student, Daniel Kaluuya (currently the protagonist of the next Judas and the Black Messiah) as part of Varietyseries of interviews in. Amidst talking about his golf game and Kaluuya’s movie-watching habits, Holland revealed the unlikely way he found out he’d gotten the role he’d spent auditioning in the last year of his life, is that is, watch Marvel post it on Instagram, and then click on a block with your face.

Given the life-changing role, it’s hard to blame Holland for what he did next: Turn the computer out of bed, scare the dog away, and then he runs to tell his family, including his brother, who doubled it all tan it’s unlikely to have been part of Sony’s then-rampant piracy scandal. But no: Marvel really said it to everyone before they told Holland, presumably because you can only get Mark Ruffalo for it great movie secrets so many times.

You can see the rest of the interview, which also reflects on Holland and Kaluuya Cherry, Fred Hampton, Ryan Coogler and more, at Variety.
