macOS 11

Developers can download betamacOS Big Sur‌‌‌ 11.2 beta using the software update mechanism in System Preferences after installing the appropriate profile from the Apple Developer Center.

‌MacOS Big Sur‌ 11.2 beta 2 removes a feature that allowed Apple applications to bypass firewalls, security tools, and third-party VPN applications. ‌MacOS Big Sur‌ 11 included a ContentFilterExclusionList that allowed Apple applications such as the App Store, Maps, iCloud, and more to avoid firewalls and VPN applications that users had installed. These apps have been unable to filter or inspect traffic for some of Apple’s built-in apps. This functionality has been removed in ‌macOS Big Sur‌ 11.2.

When ‌macOS Big Sur‌ 11.2 is released, Apple applications will be compatible with VPN applications and will no longer be able to bypass firewalls and other security tools.

According to Apple’s release notes, the update also improves Bluetooth reliability and includes several bug fixes.

‌MacOS Big Sur‌ 11.2 improves the reliability of Bluetooth and solves the following problems:
– External screens may display a black screen when connected to a Mac mini (M1, 2020) using an HDMI to DVI converter
– Modifications to Apple ProRAW photos in the Photos app cannot be saved
– iCloud Drive can be turned off after turning off the CloudiCloud Drive Desktop and Documents folder option‌
– System preferences cannot be unlocked when you enter the administrator password
– The Globe key may not display the Emoji panel and Symbols when pressed

The update fixes a bug that could cause external displays to show a black screen when connected to a ‌M1‌ ‌Mac mini‌ using an HDMI to DVI converter and fixes an issue that caused Apple ProRaw photos not to be saved to the application ‌Photos aplic. It also includes fixes for CloudiCloud Drive‌, System Preferences and more.
