Senator Bernie Sanders takes advantage of his viral internet meme by selling sweatshirts on his website.
The $ 45 “Chairman Sanders Crewneck” sweatshirt features the Vermont senator wearing a parka, hand gloves and a blue surgical mask sitting in a folding chair.
“Vermont jacket, Vermont gloves, Vermont common sense,” says the description on their website. “100% of the proceeds go to Meals on Wheels Vermont.”
Sanders ’fashion choice went viral on Wednesday after being photographed sitting alone in his parka and gloves during President Joe Biden’s inauguration ceremony.
The Democratic Socialist defended his dress by saying he would rather stay warm than be fashionable.
“In Vermont we dress in coats: we know something about the cold and we don’t care so much about good fashion. We want to stay warm, and that’s what I did today, ”he told Gayle King of CBS News on Wednesday.
On social media, Sanders was photoshopped into scenes from iconic movies like Forrest Gump and popular TV shows like “Games of Thrones.”
The Brooklyn-born senator was even edited in New York City scenes, including sitting next to a hot dog spot, in a park and on the subway.
