Kendrick said he doubts the reduction in new cases of COVID-19 is the result of ongoing vaccines. Approximately 32,000 of nearly 3 million Oklahomans over the age of 18 have received the first and second doses of a COVID-19 vaccine.
From Monday to Wednesday, the state reported between 1,500 and 2,000 new daily cases of COVID-19, a drastic drop from the previous week. From January 13 to Sunday, the state reported between 3,000 and 4,000 new cases of COVID-19 every day.
The drop in infections coincides with a recent drop in hospitalizations compared to the record high of 1,926 COVID patients hospitalized on January 9th.
