Lionel Messi has been left out of the FIFA (TOTY) team of the year for the first time in its history.
EA Sports I led the team, which used to be based on FIFPro’s XI World Cup of the Year, since it started its Ultimate Team mode in FIFA 09.
Since that edition, Messi has been included in all TOTY, so far. This year, Cristiano Ronaldo, Robert Lewandowski and Kylian Mbappe collected the advanced points.
The rest of the team consists of Manuel Neuer at the goal; Trent Alexander-Arnold, Sergio Ramos, Virgil van Dijk and Alphonso Davies in defense; while Kevin de Bruyne, Bruno Fernandes and Joshua Kimmich they make up the middle of the field.
In contrast to previous years, Branches is the only representative of LaLiga Santander in the XI.
