Mexico and EU address guidelines on health measures for Mexican travelers

The government of Mexico, through the Secretaries of the Interior and Foreign relationsIn addition to the National Migration Institute, they initiated talks with the authorities of United States on the health measures that Mexican travelers must adopt when traveling through both territories.

In a statement, the Secretariat by Marcelo Ebrard reported that the mechanisms for determining the type of screening tests are being analyzed. Covid-19 must be made by persons traveling to the United States, either by air or land.

The dialogue, he explained, comes after the executive order signed on Thursday by the country’s incoming president, Joe Biden, which defined that travelers wishing to enter its borders must submit a negative PCR test with a maximum of three days of seniority, in addition to taking a mandatory quarantine of at least seven days.

The measures applicable from January 26 were taken by the US government in the face of the wave of Covid-19 infections in the country that has already claimed the lives of more than 400,000 people.

Faced with this, the authorities initiated the dialogue in order to analyze these provisions and specify the duration and conditions that Mexican travelers will have to abide by the rules.

“The Government of Mexico will keep public opinion, in the binational community and in the various industries, informed of the measures to be taken,” he said.

He also said that he ratified his commitment to the implementation of policies that would help minimize the impact of the pandemic on the two territories, however, he considered that these should allow commercial activity for the benefit. of the two economies
