Hitman 3 Kills It, the largest digital release in the history of franchises

Hitman 3 has enjoyed the largest digital release in the history of franchises, which seems a remarkable success considering that the inaugural entry of the World of Assassination trilogy adopted an episodic model. Of course, the game was released on a larger list of platforms this time around, including even Nintendo Switch and Google Stadia, and the industry is generally shifting more toward downloads during these pandemic times.

This means, ultimately, that retail sales are likely to decline compared to Hitman 2, so it will be interesting to see how well the release has performed overall. However, you don’t get anything out of the IO Interactive developer – the title is excellent, and while the release at first was a bit weird, it responded quickly and made everything work pretty fast.
