Former NFL offensive player Tony Jones, who started in the Broncos ’consecutive title teams in the 1990s, died Friday at the age of 54, according to the team.
No cause of death was provided.
Jones, known as “T-Bone,” played 13 seasons with the Browns, Ravens and Broncos.
An unwritten free agent from South Carolina, he was a hit as Denver’s first right-handed attack in Super Bowl XXXII and the first left-handed attack in Super Bowl XXXIII.
“We lost a great man,” ex-partner Rod Rod wrote on Twitter. “It was just a beach of hellish balls. We love you and miss you Bone. One of the best Broncos attacks of all time. The best dressing room of ALL TIME! ”
After an early exit from the playoffs to end the 1996 season, the Broncos acquired Jones from the Ravens and would help them win the Super Bowl the next two years. In the first Super Bowl, he kept the defensive end of the Reggie White Hall of Fame without a sack and limited it to one attack. He was named a member of the Broncos ’Top 100 team in 2019.
