Former CNN host Piers Morgan has been on fire for his social media tribute to Larry King, whose death was announced Saturday.
Morgan replaced King on CNN’s “Larry King Live” program in January 2011 to host the renamed “Piers Morgan Tonight,” a move that caused tension between the two. The co-anchor of “Good Morning Britain” chose to face this tension in recognition of King’s death while taking a hit on King’s former marriages.
“Larry King was a hero of mine until we fell after I replaced him on CNN and he said my show was‘ like watching your mother-in-law go through a cliff in your new Bentley. ’” (Married eight sometimes as an expert mother-in-law. But he was a brilliant broadcaster and a masterful television interviewer. ” the tweet is read.
The post didn’t go down well with some of King’s fans, who immediately called Morgan for the insensitive message.
“The fact that you had to wait until Larry King went on to post this drivel speaks for your character,” wrote a tweet while another added, “So unnecessary, dead men. What are you getting at insulting him, other than possibly upsetting his family? “
Several others accused the 55-year-old of trying to cause King’s death on him.
“Piers Morgan is the latest (and frankly the most annoying) narcissist. It is unbearable. Nothing can happen without somehow relating to him and his pathetic life. A man has just died. F – hell king ” wrote another frustrated Twitter user.
However, there were a few Morgan supporters who came to the defense of the British, believing he should be praised for his honesty.
“That’s honest,” wrote a fan, “And you still found a way to keep him respectful. I appreciate it. I hate fake things. “
“Me too,” Morgan answered. “Larry hated me for replacing him on CNN and he never hid any secrets from it, which I found very sad because he was one of my heroes, but I think he was a great announcer and one of the greats of television. of all time”
