Go ahead, Jets fans. Great Dream – Great Deshaun Watson.
According to the Miami Herald, the disgruntled Pro Bowl quarterback has the Jets on his wish list followed by rivals Dolphins.
Watson, a 25-year-old star, has been disenchanted with jeans and owns a non-trade clause, which gives him power over his next stop. The Miami Herald reported that Watson is in love with new Jets coach Robert Saleh and wanted the Texans to turn to the former 49ers defensive coordinator for his vacant head coach position.
Watson, a three-time Pro Bowler, is said to be upset with the Texans because after he was initially promised he would be part of the hiring process for his new CEO, his opinion was largely ignored. The team eventually hired former Patriots executive Nick Caserio. Watson also got angry last year when the Texans changed their main target, DeAndre Hopkins, to the Cardinals.
49ers cornerback Richard Sherman applauded Saleh’s rent from the Jets and told Watson he should push the jeans to change it.
“I’d get out of there as fast as I could, I’d go to New York,” Sherman said recently on Cris Collinsworth’s podcast.
This report is the latest example of Watson’s potential desire to play for the Jets. The Texan star’s official Instagram account liked a photo on the last page of Monday’s Post that said the Jets had to do “whatever it takes” to acquire the quarterback.
Watson has also been in the area, attending a Brooklyn Nets game last week, and is said to be friendly with Kevin Durant.
The Jets had a chance to withdraw Watson from Clemson in 2017, but took Jamal Adams ’safety at No. 6. Watson fell to the Texans at No. 12.
