A California resident who was vaccinated against COVID-19 died a few hours later, and authorities are trying to figure out why.
The Placer County Sheriff’s Office announced the death and investigation Saturday in a Facebook post, but gave few details.
The county, which is in the Sacramento area, was “recently notified” of the person’s death, police said.
The person had tested positive for coronavirus in December and had been vaccinated a few hours before his death on January 21st.
There was no indication of the vaccine the person had been given.
“There are several local, state and federal agencies that are actively investigating this case; any report on the cause of death is premature, pending the outcome of the investigation. Our thoughts are with the family of the deceased, “wrote the sheriff’s office.
An autopsy would be held Monday, the sheriff’s office told CBS’s Sacramento affiliate.
