Vice President Kamala Harris enjoyed a forceful laugh on the Senate floor last week, when she had to refer to herself in the third person while swearing in to replace her.
The laughter of the belly came moments after he sat down for the first time as president of the Senate now controlled by Democrats, and after saying those words:
“The presidency presents before the Senate two certificates of election for the state of Georgia and a certificate of appointment to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of former Senator Kamala D. Harris of California.”
Clearly enjoying himself, he laughed out loud from behind the mask as many of the senators and chamber staff joined in laughing and applauding.
“Yeah, it was really weird,” he said of the third-person referral, making another laugh before swearing in the new senators for the term.
