Golden State Warriors star guard Stephen Curry outscored the member of the Hall of Fame Reggie Miller for the second-highest triple in NBA history after scoring the triple-triple 2,561 of his career early in the second half of Saturday’s game against the Utah Jazz.
Curry now ranks 412 triples behind Hall of Fame member Ray Allen, the highest number in NBA history.
The triples record came appropriately. Curry got into the lane early in the second half, sent the ball to Draymond Green on the wing, then relocated to the corner and nailed the shot with a quick pass from Green.

“What defines Steph is his ability to connect triples in or out of the stream,” the Warriors coach said. Steve Kerr, Before Saturday’s game during a video conference with reporters. “Either in the dribble with all his movement or playing with the ball and that’s probably where he and Ray Allen are most alike. Reggie was a lot more of a ballless guy, catching and shooting triples.”
Curry hit Miller in record time. Miller needed 1,388 games in his career to reach 2,560 triples, while Allen needed 1,744 games to reach 2,561. Curry passed that mark in just 715 games.
“But Steph and Ray in my mind are the two best in terms of the diversity of their three-point shots, so they’re going to be at the top of that list,” Kerr said. “The ability to shoot them in so many different ways is simply an incredible threat that the defenses have to deal with.
“So I was lucky enough to coach Steph and see him play all these years and enjoy the show like everyone else. And also get to know him so well and experience what it’s like to lead a team with Steph. It’s incredible luxury to have a leader like him “.
Curry, 32, has changed the modern game in terms of everything that has expanded the scope for him and the younger shooters who have chased him. He is proud of the time he has invested in his own game to become possibly the best shooter in basketball history. Curry’s intricate pre-game routine has become a spectacle in itself over the years, but it’s his shooting regime on the practice court that Warriors officers have marveled at over time.
Curry’s coach in Davidson College, Bob McKillop, He explained the ways in which he feels Curry has changed the game more over time.
“Well, the first change is that it brings great joy,” McKillop told ESPN in 2019. “And I think that resonates with the Warriors. They play with joy. Steve Kerr trains with joy. It starts with Stephen. So this is number one.
“We talk about their triples and they’re fabulous, but we talk about the number of trays, we talk about their percentage of shots per tray. We talk about passes. We talk about screens, we talk about cuts. He does all these selfless things that sometimes don’t they appear on the statistics sheet … again, I don’t know how many superstars can impact the team in the iron small things like Stephen Curry hits the team.
