“The plane is crashing. Becerra said leadership at the federal level was needed to ensure vaccine deployment and state efforts to control the virus were effective and managed smoothly.
“But first you have to rescue the people, you have to rescue the economy,” he said, adding, “President Biden made it clear: it will not happen overnight.”
“We can’t tell the states, here are some PPE, some masks, here are some vaccines, now go do it,” the HHS candidate added.
His comments responded to questions about Biden’s comments, suggesting that little could be done by the United States to tarnish the trajectory of the COVID-19 pandemic in the coming months.
“There is nothing we can do to change the trajectory of the pandemic in the coming months,” Biden said Friday.
The Biden administration has promised a more practical approach to combating the spread of COVID-19 in contrast to the Trump administration’s largely state-centered approach to vaccine distribution.
During his first week in office, Biden signed several executive orders, including orders dealing with the pandemic, such as one that required travelers to wear masks at airports.
