Larry King’s children have talked about the devastation of losing their “amazing father” to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We are saddened by our father’s death and, along with our extended family, mourn his death,” Larry King, Jr., Chance King and Cannon King said in a joint statement Saturday afternoon, hours after the 87-year-old television legend dead.
“The world knew Larry King as a great broadcaster and interviewer, but for us he was ‘father,'” said the trio, King’s remaining children after he lost two last year.
“He was the man who lovingly obsessed with our daily schedules and our well-being, and who was so proud of our accomplishments: big, small or imagined.” they wrote.
“And, through it all, we knew, without a doubt, the world that he loved us more than life itself.
“He was an incredible father and he was fiercely loyal to those lucky enough to call him a friend. We will miss him every day of our lives, ”the trio of children said.
“The outpouring of love and memories of her remarkable career have moved us deeply and we are very grateful,” they said, asking for donations from the American Heart Association or the Beverly Hills EMS Fire Department in lieu of flowers.
They signed the statement “with deep gratitude.”
The former CNN star died at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. The cause of death was the coronavirus, his sixth wife Julia Alexander confirmed to The Post in a telephone interview from his home in Florida.
His death came a few months after losing son Andy and his daughter Chaia, who died 23 days apart.
His eldest son, Larry King Jr., 59, was with Annette Kaye, the second of the legendary journalist’s seven wives.
Cannon, 20, and Chance, 21, were both with his wife, Shawn Southwick King, whom he apparently was still married to at the time of his death, despite having filed for divorce. and split again in 2019.
